Solution: Download and install Microsoft Windows Installer. Uninstall and reinstall Norton Internet Security.


Details: The error message appears during the installation of Norton Internet Security. To fix the problem, reinstall the 'Microsoft Windows Installer'. After installing 'Microsoft Windows Installer', remove and reinstall 'Norton Internet Security'.
To reinstall the Microsoft Windows Installer and Norton Internet Security:
1) Download Microsoft Windows Installer.
2) Restart your computer in MS-DOS mode.
3) At the DOS prompt, type the following and press ENTER after each line.
cd \\winnt\\system32
ren msi.dll msi.old
ren msihnd.dll msihnd.old
ren msiexec.exe msiexec.old
exit
NOTE: If using Windows XP, replace the first command with cd \\windows\\system32.
4) Restart the computer.
5) On the desktop, run 'InstMsi.exe' or 'WindowsInstaller-KB893803-x86.exe'.
6) Restart the computer.
7) Uninstall Norton Internet Security.
8) Reinstall Norton Internet Security.
